Fun news—Mary Norman to serve as Opportunity Director at The Forest School!

What if you could help a family financially but *at no cost* to you at all? Our new Opportunity Director, Mary Norman, can explain how this works.

We’re thrilled to announce that Mary—the mother of a Forest School high schooler—has agreed to serve in the role of Opportunity Director. In this role, Mary will help us over the next few months to maximize the opportunity presented by the state of Georgia’s innovative tax credit program so that we can increase scholarships for families with financial need. See Mary's full bio below.

Please join me in welcoming Mary (mary.norman@theforest.school) to The Forest School team!

Mary Norman has spent nearly 20 years in executive leadership roles guiding successful fundraising teams for national nonprofit brands including: Arthritis Foundation, Jane Goodall Institute and Youth Villages.

Although Mary’s career focus has been in the nonprofit arena, she began in the field of broadcasting serving as a morning show personality for a top Memphis radio station. After several years in radio, Mary moved into television at the NBC affiliate in Memphis. While at WMC TV she worked as a news writer/producer and, later, as co-host for the station’s morning program, Wake Up Call.

These varied but complementary roles in media gave Mary a unique perspective when building successful nonprofit fundraising and awareness initiatives. In her role as Group Vice President of Strategic Marketing Alliances with the national Arthritis Foundation, Mary led her team in the development of the organization’s first seven figure annual partnership program.

Mary followed up her time at the Arthritis Foundation working in Arlington, Virginia with famed primatologist, Dr. Jane Goodall. As Senior Vice President of Development and Communications she led all national fundraising, marketing, and communications for the Jane Goodall Institute.

In the Atlanta metro area, Mary has worked as Vice President of Development for Visiting Nurse Health System, Director of Development for Youth Villages and, most recently, Director of Development and Communications for Bloom in Fayetteville. Four years ago, Mary founded her own nonprofit consulting business. As Principal of Alliances4Good LLC, Mary assists nonprofits in building sustainable revenue programs and awareness campaigns.
