A new adventure + We're hiring!
With a new year comes a new adventure.
This Fall 2018, we are thrilled to launch a new school in south metro Atlanta—The Forest School: An Acton Academy.
The more we have gotten to know the heartbeat of Pinewood Forest, where Joy works as Creative Director, the more convinced we have become that this breakthrough community deserves a breakthrough school.
According to research, the healthiest, happiest, most joyful people have:
- A sense of meaning or purpose bigger than one's self
- Healthy, positive connection with others
- Healthy, positive connection with themselves (mind, body, spirit)
- Healthy, positive connection with nature
- Experiences of flow states
- Experiences of beauty
What if school were designed to cultivate all aspects of flourishing?
The Forest School will be a nonprofit micro-school that cultivates flourishing and empowers kids to make the world a better place.
To accomplish this vision, The Forest School will make use of learner-driven technology, Socratic discussions, hands-on projects, and real-world apprenticeships in a character forging community.
We are excited to join a growing network of Acton Academy Schools worldwide that are building on the success of the original Acton Academy in Austin, Texas. The Forest School will be the first Acton in Georgia.
Given our school’s nearness to and partnership with Pinewood Atlanta Studios, there will be tremendous opportunities to prepare and engage kids with the film and arts industries.
